It was a bitch to put on my 2010 Ultra. If you look close there is a tiny space but I will just live with it.

Its not a case of 10% that fit, its the rule that you have to be 10% smarter than the item your trying to operate!

Had the same problem...there was no way to get it to close. I pulled the stock ring off and put it inside of the new ring just to check, and there was no way the new ring would close any further than about a 1/4-1/2" gap with it being installed over the stock ring.

So, here's what I did...

I removed the stock ring. I then removed the 8 or 9 screws that hold the headlight assembly to the nacelle. I put 1/4" flat washers on each of those 8-9 screws and screwed them back in. The 1/4" washers stick out just far enough that it gives something for the new trim ring to grip onto. Put the new trim ring on without the stock ring. Put a little weatherstrip around the headlight and tightened it down...no gap and it looks great. Hope that helps....Seems like some of the new rings go on over the stock ring and fit perfectly, and others like mine will never fit no matter how much clamping and tightening you do.

I put the same one on all 3 of my RKs (I always take off the good stuff before I sell a bike) Zero problem with any of them.

You must loosen the stock ring so the flange part of the trim ring fits between the stock ring & the housing. Then, after installation, tighten it up again.

Loosening the stock ring makes sense, but how do you tighten when the visor covers all of that up? I must be missing something - ?
