Default Tue Duals or not to do True Duals...that is the question

Hey..I'm looking for some opinions. I have a 2007 FLHTP with a 103' motor. I have Rinehart slip on mufflers on factory headers with the crossover. I'm thinking about changing to true dual headers. Is it worth it in performance and sound to do it? Does anyone have any info? Thanks for your input.

My opinion is yes....I think it will sound significantly better. Some will say that your torque may go down a bit but I think the difference will be negligible...I didn't notice anything. Have you considered power duals instead of true duals. PD's sound isn't quite as good as TD's but their torque is better....but at the end of the day it's all personal preference.

A good rule/opinion of thumb....TDs have better sound than PDs but PDs have better torque than TDs

I have been very happy with mine TDs. I am able to keep up with my riding group. I love the sound.

The lose of performance is crap..

Unless you can notice about a 1/10th of a hp and 1/2 ft lb

The heat on the leg issue is great

I did it for comfort

I have to say the notice from true duals to a 2-1 you can see in a big motor build.

I have TD vance&hines w/ Hi-outputs and my dyno sheet is right there with my buddies bike that has a thunderheader and a cam.
both 103" with full stage 1.

So unless you building a 120r, 131 jims, 155 r&r, get what makes you happy, I cant stand the look of a 2-1 on a bagger.

I just put Cobra TD on my 01 FLHTC last Friday. The sound is much better, it cleans up the right side of the bike, there is a noticable loss in torque but not so much as it affects ridability. Made my Kerker pipes louder for some reason...? And I get more vibration on idle for some reason. I think if I had to do it over again I would get the V&H power duals.

My two cents.

Go with Rineharsts and you will see a very noticeable difference in all around performance. You need a dyno to tell the loss in TQ.

I have Rinehart TD's on my 07 & love them! Keep in mind if you get the Rinehart head pipe your slip on's won't fit.

You won't lose HP. You might actually gain a couple on the top end. You WILL lose 2-3#'s of torque on the bottom. If I was going to do it over, I'd go with an "X" pipe.

Rider/owner preference, but have to say I like the TD sound over 2-1 & 2-1-2. Really enjoying my Bub-7 exhaust & unless you plan to use bike on 1/4-mile strip...HP loss/impact isn't a factor.
