1156 (clear)

You need a dual filament in the rear because it serves as a turn signal, stop light and running light.

You need a single filament bulb up front because it only serves as turn signal and running light.
WRONG

The physical bulb size/shape, alignment pins and contact points on the 1156 and 1157 bulbs match up perfectly with the OEM bulbs.

FYI, I bought the 1157LL pack because it's a long-life bulb.

Thanks, guys!
I don't know where you got your info but 1156 is a single filament, it only has ONE level of brightness, therefore it CANNOT be a running light and turn signal. 1157 is a dual-filament therefore it can be TWO different levels of brightness so it can be turn signal and running lamp. Brake is the same brightness as turn signal. So, an '09 SG would have an 1157 up front and 1156 in the rear since your rears are one level of brightness, turn signal. A 2010+ SG uses an 1157 in the rear because there is NO center taillight on the fender. The bulbs in the rear use two levels of brightness.

1156 has one contact point, 1157 has two.

+1, once you do LEDs you'll never look back at regular bulbs. Custom Dynamics Dyamic Ringz on the front, red clusters on the rear. On the bikes with the center brake light, the center is 1157, the turns are 1156. On the new bikes, no center light, 1157 front and rear.

on my 07, the center taillight was not an 1157. i forget what it was, but it had a wedge base.

You are correct. Original post revised. Thank you.

You could take all your bulbs out and really save on power.

Granted in this case 29 vs 27 watts isn't much, if what I have read here is correct. Otherwise I typically go for consuming more power when it comes to lights that keep me safe. My dims get me flashed once in awhile, but they kick ***.

It has been my experience Kurakyn is junk. I hope I never use them again. I gave in last time, cause they make so much cool looking junk.

I have no experience with their electrical, but have trouble believing if the simple stuff is junk, the harder stuff is not.

People know how good their customer service and warranty is because they have had to use it.

I would be very reluctant to go to an after market set up on a touring bike, if you can buy 1157s at truck stops and Walmart. Granted you should have an extra bulb anyways.

Thanks so much

From what I can remember 1156 is single element and the 1157 is running and stop.
