Mobil 1 Oil Users....Question
Have any of you that are running the mobil 1 vtwin 20 w 50 in a 6 speed notice any noise from using this oil?
changed out my fluids today and went mobil 1 in all 3 holes...had been running syn 3 in the motor and regular primary fluid and in the tranny i was using spectro 6 speed tranny fluid at 20 bucks a quart...
i got 6 quarts of mobil at autozone for 53 with tax today with a coupon off thier facebook page...
just curious on what everyone thinks about it in the tranny

I am currently using it in my engine. The top end is making more noise than it ever has. I switched out pennzoil 20w-50 for this stuff and I must say I'm disappointed.
Now I'm well aware that more valvetrain noise doesn't necessarily mean more wear however less noise does mean less wear.
As far as the tranny goes when I purchased the bike with 3000 miles on it (5000kms) it had mobil 1 v-twin in all 3 holes. Shifting was notchy, neutral hard to find and a clunk going into first. I swapped it for red line shockproof heavy. All those symptoms disappeared.
I had a pile of work done to my bike this spring, the shop changed the tranny fluid to syn 3,within 2000 miles the tranny symptoms returned, put shockproof back in,symptoms disappeared.
So I am sold on the shockproof for the trannies in these bikes. Mobil 1 has a great reputation however the increase in top end noise is unnerving.

My bike is running smoothly and no sound of shifting, except the 1st gear.
BTW.: my trip is long (10000 miles), and the Mobile 1 is great!

At my first change on my Limited I put Mobil 1 20W-50 in all three holes. I immediately noticed the "nuetral rattle" noise. Within a hundred or two hundred miles I drained the tranny and put in Mobil 1 75W-140 and the noise was gone. Since then I've also used Mobil 1 75W-90 with good results.
