pros and cons with 120R motor
#3
Some of caveats in my mind
1. Crate motor has got to be upgraded with at least roller rocker arms and lifters for sound operation.
2. Crank needs to be at least checked for true and then balanced and welded. Those of you who say rubbish are crazy.
3. Depending on personal preference a cam change may be in order.
4. Now we need to re assemble properly.
What did I just add to the cost of that 120r?
And I did not even mention a Throttle Body that SE cannot deliver at this time.

Being a member of the 120R club, I'll subscribe to this thread. I've talked with a few engine builders on another forum and they say, that the OEM 120R cam (266) is ideal for that engine. Regarding the crank, well Frank Drago is installing Prochargers on 120R's with 6-8 lbs of boost with no issues. Actually, I just ordered 1 from him. Warrany, well many of us f@#$ed that up once we started changing cams on our OEM engines. Also, I was able to sell my 103" for $2,100; thus offsetting the cost of the 120R. The SE Throttle Body's are in short supply, but many of us our turning to HPI for throttle bodies. I currently have 3,000+ miles on my 120R without any issues except for pure excitement when I twist the throttle.

Almost 13,000 miles on mine
Smile every time I twist the grip
beats every thing I've run against
Draws a crowd when ever you fire it up
Great daily driver, bar hopper, all day cruiser
have not heard of any crank, bearing, lifter or rocker arm failures. Only failures i have heard of both were from a retaining ring failure on the front cam. Same part is in every twin cam.

120r Pro's & Con's
Well, I have a 120r on an 07 Streetglide. The cons are really non existant. The pro's are fanatstic. With respect to rebuilding the crate engine, don't touch it unless you want a different cam. It is a VERY tight engine and I am not running it at the drag strip. Second, there are after market NON harley extended warranties which cover the engine and the rest of the bike if you don't have over a certain amount of miles and they are very reasonably priced. Third, I prefer the HPI throttle body allows you to keep football or and configeration similiar, and in our cases, it allows you to keep your CRUISE CONTROL. SE throttle body does not on a CABLE bike. Fourth, you will never lack of power again. It is truly amazing how fast, quiet and smooth this engine is. Just do it and never look back, you won't regret it.
