Default Tire Pressure

I always play with my tire and air shock pressure, looking for the perfect ride. This morning a Policeman on a Road King pulled in behind me at work. At first I thought $^#&king cop. It was an old school buddy from way back tha wanted a closer look at my Street Glide. After a short chat I started checking my tire pressure. He said what I thought was a very intelligent statement even for a cop. A little too much air pressure can sacrifice your ride. A little too little air pressure can sacrifice your life.

To much pressure is less rubber on the road.

But higher pressure also provides for more tire stability... Tire pressure is a compromise between a smoother ride and better tire stability. Just find what you like within a few psi either way from the recommended pressure.

Owners manual for my 06 RKC calls for 40 rear and 36 front for two up riding. I have run as low as 32 front and rear and much better ride but squishier handling obviously. What do y'all think? Happy medium? 36 rear 34 front? curious too as I don't want to sacrifice safety for ride.

Ultra at 36 front and 40 rear. I crank up pressure in shock if two up.

Default tire pressure

I just had my 1000 mile service done at the dealership. The tech raised the tire pressures to 40 in the front and 42 in the rear. He said they had been seeing a lot of cupping on tires and thought this would help. This is on a 2012 CVO ultra.

That's right where I run mine... Dealer suggested, feels about right to me. ( I weigh in @ 260)

I go by the manual most of the time with 36F, 40R. I figure the engineers spec'd it out that way for a reason.

+1. But actually I generally leave the shock pressure at around 40 no matter if I am solo or with the wife. She only weighs about a buck ten, so it doesn't make that much difference.
