Default Electra Glide Gas Tank Venting Question

I purchased a 2003 Electra Glide a few month ago. I went for a ride the other day and it was around 96-98 degrees out, when I got home my bike was sitting in the garage next to us while I was working an a buddys bike. We could hear a hissing sound comming from my bike. I though it was my tire or rear air shocks leaking and proceeded to remove the bags to dig further. Turns out the sound was coming from a vent tube that comes out somwhere behind the side cover (or close) and goes up to the gas tank. I removed the fuel cap and the sound stopped. When I put the cap back on the sound started again an lasted for a while. Is this normal or should I be concerned that this is not venting properly. I have other bikes and do not recall this sound or them venting like this.

I have never heard my bike hiss, but if you were not venting properly, you would stall. I had a stalling problem, and it turned out that my vent tube was pitched. I was messing around under the seat and accidentally pinched the tube closed..

If I were you, I would check and make sure its not pinched and just allowing slight flow out of it causing the noise, kind of like when you make a balloon whistle.

If your garage is air conditioned, the contrast between the heat your bike has just come out of would explain that noise, however it is worth checking that the pipe is free of any obstructions.

Thank you for the replies I will check to make sure I did not pinch the tube when I installed my badlander seat. My Garage is not A/C'd although that would be nice!

I have had that happen on a couple of my bikes; most noticeable was my '90 FXSTC. High pitched whine that went on forever after a ride. No biggie.
