Default Anybody ever had a bouncing tachometer??

After riding for awhile my tach will start bouncing like crazy. This also makes my cruise quit working. Do I have a bad tach? 2000 FLHTCUI

Could be a VSS issue or a wire loose, etc.

Clean and tighten battery cables, on both(4) ends. Check all bulbs, make sure they are all working and a filiment isnt grounding out.

i have a 2006 RKC and i changed my bars, caught a wire and it kept grounding out and shorting causing the cruise and all dash lights including markers and brake light to cut out totally, just wondering if you have a wire thats grounding out from a cruise control switch but not all the time and maybe just over bumps etc when riding :/

Only time I had a bouncing tack was on the older HD with a mechanical tack. Is the engine running fine when it is bouncing?

Had this exact issue. Turned out to be moisture in my Power Commander connection.
