Thundermax & check engine solution for me
Hey there Everyone, I thought I would put this up so if anyone else had a similar problem it would be a simple fix.
Here is the 411.
Went out for a cruise the other night, Bike (09 Street Glide) started and ran fine. After a short refuel when I went to start the bike I noticed the engine light had come on, ONLY AT IDLE.
So I turned it off and cycled the thundermax (quick fix) didn't work, and the engine light came on again as soon as I reved it up it would go away??? The bike ran fine through town and on the highway.
Brought her back home and hooked the thundermax to the laptop checked the trouble codes and 2 historics came up:
Front O2 sensor not detected
Rear O2 sensor not detected
So I cleared the codes, went to start the bike and it turned over very slowly then nothing AND the engine was back on.....Weak battery possibly. I put the charger on the battery over night.
I recleared the codes (which were the same) and tried to start the bike, again it turned over slow, then dead. Now I knew the battery was done.
Shot into the local HD STEALER and got a new battery for $245.00 as for some reason all the other battery shops are closed on Saturdays.
Installed the new battery, re-initialized the T-Max and fired her up.
Ran perfectly again, and no check engine light.
I am guess that the battery was just to weak to be able to do all the required checks which is why it started to throw codes, and at higher RPMS the bike would run off the charging system rather than the battery.
Anyway hope this helps out someone else down the road IF they encounter a similar problem

Exact same thing happened to me this week. Glad I read this post before troubleshooting. Now I know that low battery voltage = false trouble codes with the Tmax!!!
Went out to start bike and realized I'd left it off the trickle charger since my last ride about two weeks ago. Battery was at about 10.5V and turned over slow but started. Check engine light came on for a bit and then cleared. Checked the codes after work and they were for my front wheel speed sensor and open front brake switch. Rather than tear my front end apart, I chose to charge my battery. Guess what....no more trouble codes!

Engine light come on Randomly
06Ultrabig95,
I just installed the thunder Max and have been riding on the map 313. I have a new battery and get the same behavior. I am working with Alan and Brian for the past 3 weeks. I have sent Support a data collector lastnight and await there response. I don't believe its a OS2 or mechanical issue thus far. I am pretty sure is just getting the right map with the autotune learned uploaded. On the other hand the motorZ is running great. Loving the Max so far. Much cooler and more power on lower gears. I am still getting the MAX maximize to its fullest potential.
