I just purchased an 03 FLHTCUI and discovered the cruise control does not work. No light comes on when I turn on the rocker switch and it doesn't work while riding. Any suggestions on easy things to check for before taking it to the dealer?

 

Check under the seat to make sure all cables/wires are connected. May have to disconnect and reconnect. If no joy, check fuses. After that make dealer/Indy appointment.

 

Make sure both brake switches and the brake light work.

You did not mention if any mods were done to the bike.
That is good information to know when diagnosing a problem.

 

Well I just purchased the bike. It has engine mods and upgraded front speakers. Also, since posting this I had a problem that came and went away where the speedometer was showing I was going about 20mph faster than I was actually going. That occurred for one ride then went away and has not come back. That and the fuel gauge bouncing.

 

after checking all other things, like fuses and connections, take a wire off the roll off switch, and see if it works then,(the only way to shut the cruise off after doing this is brakes, or rocker switch on the faring cap, be careful) if that works then it is just a cable adjustment.
