There is no air adjuster on the front forks, least not for an SG anyway.

Wait a minute, why remove the fork cap's? to install the fluid? no need, I've alway's removed the valve stem in the air adjuster at the rear of the bike, connect a Mity-Vac and suck the fluid into the lower leg. Is there something about the newer cartrige fork's that prevent this method?? Putt
Do not use channel locks on the top fork nut, use the wrench supplied in the tool kit....hint it is the same one used on the rear axel. It is also very thin by design and works WONDERFULLY for this job. Another little helpful hint, before you completely remove the fork leg from the bike use the lower clamp bolt on the tree as a vise to hold the fork leg so you can break the other nut loose. Slide the leg down far enough so that you can put a socket and a ratchet on it, tighten the lower clamp bolt and turn away. It's easy to and a few shortcuts help in a big way sometimes.

I installed chrome sliders and cowbells last week. The first side took me about 3 hours from start to finish. The other side took about 45 minutes. Learned it was not that hard. Reason for time diff....learning curve. OH Yeah, remember to put the drain screw in the new sliders prior to fluid. Not that I did that

We learn something new everyday, right on. thank's. I'm going from a '01 Road Glide (Air adjustable front forks) to a '07 Street Glide and your right, no air adjustablity. I like that. Except now when I change out the lower's, I need to remove the fork cap's, ain't life a bitch at time's LOL. Thank's again, Putt

1-I used an impact on mine (I didn't try it with out one)
2-The bolts come right out with the correct wrench
3-I also used a piece of pvc pipe to drive the seals in (cut a slit down the lenth of the pvc pipe to make it expand over the fork tube)
So which one's have cartridge forks? My '06 service manual's diagrams looks like regular forks. Somebody said here while back left one was a cartridge? Does the fork seal get seated before or after you put on the slider?
