Default engine upgrade or cvo

I was going to install cams and big bore kit in my 09 ultra for around 2,000 to 2,500.I since have found a low mileage 2010 ultra cvo i can get for about 10,000 and my bike.Don't really want to spend the big bucks but wondering if i would be money ahead to upgrade. Would like to hear you guys thoughts. Thanks

If the upgrade is for performance I say no. Ten K can get you 140hp square all day with lots of change left over.

For a more budget build, 107", stage 2 heads/cams and a good 2 into 1 will smoke a CVO that has cams and a 2 into 1......at least mine did.

My little 2008 with white wall pizza cutters took a 2012 CVO with the pro 110 performance upgrade kit and Boarzilla 2 into 1. Every time, all the time without fail. Not by a little either by a lot. At least ten lengths.

Well, obviously its all a matter of opinion, me personally, I would rather build my own motor, heads, pistons, cams, etc than throw my leg over the same cvo the guy down the road has, I guess what I'm saying is, building your own motor/bike gives it a bit of identity , good luck to what you decide, chad

Thanks for the info. I figured the engine upgrade would give me more power than a stock cvo 110.May go with engine upgrade because mine already has true duals .stage one air cleaner and some chrome. If i buy the cvo won't have any money to upgrade it.

I picked the engine upgrade, I am pulling out my 103 and putting in a 120R.

If it's just power and reliability you seek, build your bike. If you want the added benefits of extra chrome, custom paint, etc etc, the cvo is a good investment. Beware though, once you get on a cvo, it's hard to ever go back. I got a deal on Mine, and now that it's 7 years old, I've considered trading, but can't stand the 37,000 price tag. I'm probably gonna do a 107 when Mine gets tired, and that'll beat most 110's any day.

Good choice. For 10K you can do all sorts of things to make it uniquely yours.

CVO has heated seat, heated grips, chrome wheels and front end, painted inner fairing, rider backrest, etc, etc.....

Plus you get the 110 that is a tuner away from being respectable in the performance department.

I'd get the CVO

I was in your shoes last year trying to decide what to do with my 2010 ultra, it had dresser duals, monster ovals, sert, I was kind of bored with the paint etc. got to thinking about all that money I was going to spend with no chance of getting any of it back, I started looking at CVO Ultras and they are decked out with all the bells and whistles, they hold their value so much better because you can't build one for what they cost. I found a great deal on a 2010 CVO Ultra and have not looked back, after owning one I doubt I ever have anything but a CVO, good luck.
