Default How much ticking noise should there be?

Hey guys I just finished out a cam swap on my 07 RKCustom. I used an Andrews 48h cam with Andrews adjustable pushrods. I had to adjust them a few times to get the ticking noise down to near nothing but I still hear a very minute tick. I hear that with a new cam you may get some ticking but how much is "some"?

If you are riding with a fairing or windshield, you will always hear some, if you are running with synthetic oil you will hear more. Happy Veterans Day

How do you measure it though? My ear may think its a little noise where as someone else may think its alot. I don't want to do any real damage.

my advice is ride the damn thing and call it a day. sounds like you have adjusted the valves to spec.

my motor is so noisy, you'd think there were chinese kids making shoes under my tank

I am using the 48 as Well. I have more tick than I like, but the general consensus is that these cams have very steep ramps due to the narrow closing which is what makes them work so Well. Most people using the 48 are experiencing more tick than stock. I ran my pushrods to 4 turns from zero and it made a difference. Still noisy. Some have installed s&s and gaterman lifters with good results but they are pricey.....

Should hear a light flutter rather than a sewing machine tapping sound. Light flutter means the valves are closing all the way and not burning; a good thing.

You can purchase a Tickometer at any one of the major tool outlets. Around $40.00
