I can tell you that up through 1992 they used a flanged type of inlet on the muffler ..1993 and later they went to a slip fit on the inlet of the muffler .... You can use the later model head pipes ( not sure of the specific years ) on some of the older bagger models which would mean that you could use the slip on style muffler system on the ( some ) 1992 and earlier scooters

The early pipes are crap and leak, I have 06 pipes and modded mufflers on my 89.

Response #2: details the reasons although the change was going into 1995 model year, not '93

the rear hanger bracket is unchanged from 1985 to present

if this is for your 05 FLHR any mufflers for 1995+ will physically mount up

The difference as stated is the way the muffler and pipe are joined and clamped to each other. I have an 08 system on my 1990 bike, so pipes up to that year will fit, along with any mufflers up to that year. My 08 pipes have O2 sensor ports, which my tuner likes to use for setting up.

If you cut off the flared part of your early pipes you should find you can fit later mufflers. Your mufflers fit inside the pipes, later ones fit over them.

I stand corrected on the year ( and I knew better ) I just typed it wrong ( old age I guess ) but the hangers are the same set-up.
