Default '11 SG, check your front plug wire

I have the SG tore down for winter projects. Fairings, front forks, handlebars and tank are off at the moment. This bike has just under 15K on it.

My post is about the front plug wire. I was shocked to see my front wire was almost wore through to the core from rubbing against the tank. You could not see it normally. With the tank off I spotted it instantly. Mine was looped up under the tank, then into the zip tie.

If it was happening on mine, there is a chance it is happening on someone elses. I think by running your finger along the plug wire you should be able to tell without pulling the tank.

Plug wire was never moved since I bought the bike. This is the way it came down the line.

My 2010 is not worn? There should be no difference in routing. The tie holding it is also nice and loose though so that may help?

Relatively new 2012 with about 1700 miles on it. And it was rubbing. Took a small piece of wire loom and electrical taped it at the contact point.

Mine was touching too a little. I turned the boot on the plug a little and got some clearance maybe quarter in. 2009 SG . Good heads up op.
