Default Compensating Sprocket TC88

I will be going into my primary cover adding a auto tensioner for primary chain. While I was in, thought I would upgrade compensating sprocket. I can not seem to find an "upgraded" one for my bike. My bike is a 2000 EG TC88. I see the SE one but doesn't apply apparently. It is just not an issue on this year? Thanks for any input or suggestions or recommendations!

I don't think you're going to find and upgrade. Those are for the 2007 and later.
How many miles do you have on the bike?

Thanks Ken, that's what I am seeing. This bike has less than 15000 miles. I bought it from a guy last year - with only 5000 miles on it! Not having an issue, just thought since I was in there would be a good time to tackle it.

I heard from my Indy that the auto tensioners on the new HDs have issues getting too tight and causing bearing failures, I don't see the point, the adjustment is easy enough and is not required very often?

TC88 sprockets are fine. No upgrades are necessary.

Thanks guys - Yea, I believe the over tightening might be the hydraulic? Not sure. I have heard the same, mainly on this forum, but I have decided to install anyhow. Lots of 2007s and newer with these and have not heard of thousands of failures - Appreciate all of your inputs, looks like I will be saving money in the primary unless I see anything while in there! Hmmm, primary gearing, new clutch....... LOL

My TC88 compenstator did come loose last year at 60k miles. All I had to do was re-torque it. Wouldn't hurt to check on that. But you need a torque wrench with some pretty high specs.

Check out automotivemachinesupply.com for the comp nut lock and you'll never have to worry about it backing off.

Your bike is fine, it's a TC96 problem! You don't need to upgrade, as Ken says. Relax and ride!

Default auto adjust primary tensioner

Don't Do It! Not the Harley one anyway. If you want auto you could check out the M6. I've had one on my Shovel for years.
Here's a pic of my '07 tensioner after 33K. From what I've read, most auto tensioner problems seem the occur on higher milage bikes. Apparently after normal chain stretch there will be a tight spot and a loose spot in the chain. The tensioner adjusts for the loose spot and makes the tight spot tighter. Cycle repeats and then leads to bearing failure or more. I am in the process of replacing the chain, inner primary, the bearing, and removing/cleaning the clutch plates.
