Default ignition switch woes 05 flh

wanted to take of the ignition off to paint the nacelle but i had the key in the lock position when it should have been in the un lock position.
now the key is stuck in the lock position...every thing works fork locks work just cant get the key to the unlock position

any thoughts?

I'd take it back out and start over to get the tumblers aligned correctly. There are several threads on how to do it, and even a youtube video or two.

thats just it wont come out untill i can get the key to the un lock position

My fork lock recently started acting flaky and would not lock or if it did it was difficult to unlock. I sprayed it with WD40 and tried again, seemed a bit easier. Gave it some more WD and after a couple days started to work fine. A couple years ago my ignition lock stopped working and WD would not help so had to replace it.

my 05 ultra classic ,, i had to pull the ing switch just past the accessory position and put it back in the same way,, while u got it out use a scewdriver to align the tumblers,, worked for me
