Primary Chain Tensioner - what is too tight?
I know this subject has been talked about a lot, that is the tensioner and the fact the stock one can tighten the chain too much. The question is....How much is too tight? I pulled my primary cover to install a Barnett clutch spring (in the middle of a 107 build) and the manual says to put a zip tie around the tensioner before removing it.
Well...the chain is so tight I can not get a zip tie between it and the tensioner shoe. I even tried turning the back wheel to see if it would get to a slack spot. I can not budge that chain off the shoe.
So do you think that is too tight?
BTW...I have already had to replace the IPB once at 30K. Looks like a Hayden M6 is in the cards.

You have no control on the tension on the auto adjuster. I my self think the adjuster in your bike is what caused the IPB go out. I have the Baker unit in my 08-RG and i just bought the Screaming Eagle Pro manual adjuster and it is a piece of ****. I would put a Baker or Hayden in and get ride of that auto tensioner as soon as possible.
