Default Lowering RK..

Thinking my RK might could use a little squat.Seeing lowering kits and would like some input.I'm keeping the original "old bagger" look.

the road king comes with 13'' shocks. you could trade out your stock shocks for a set of shocks off of a street glide or road glide custom which are 12''. this would be like the road king customs which they sold from 2004-2007

I went down 1.5" in the front via Progressive Drop In kit and went to 12" lowered HD shocks in the rear. Personally, Im not a fan of the bolt on kits. I too want to stay with the "vintage look" too

I used that same kit to lower the back end of my road king 1 inch after I already lowered it 1 inch with short Street Glide shocks. I'm happy with it!

Default lowering kit

I have used this kit on my RK and three of my friends bikes. Seems to be a quality unit with grade 8 bolts. The thick washers (spacers) are used on the top shock bolts. I have heard that the Classic hard leather bags do not like the new angle and have to be shimmed out a bit. No problem with the hard bags. Good luck and enjoy the upcoming Spring rides !

OP, with only 45 posts (not at all a criticism) I am curious how much you have ridden the bike, what shocks are on it now and what types of road you have ridden on. I only ask because I aggressively ride the twisties and scrape my floorboards regularly. That being the case I just put on 13" rear shocks and still scrape. If you really need to get lower you may be further ahead to look into another seat or a seat modification.

Got a little over 800 miles on it sinceI bought it.It's also about 250 lbs. heavier, has a lot more seat height, and is way more top heavy than my other bike I've been riding for 6 years (200 rear,41 deg.rake, bare bones 80",5-speed built by myself)...I've seen some RK's that really have a nice squat to them. This bike is all stock, and I'm thinking a little bit lower in the rear would look good, and maybe even make the bike a little less cumbersome when moving it around (parking,storing,etc.).
