Default Hidden Antenna

I have a 2006 FLHTCUI with shorty antennas. I am considering changing to a hidden antenna (inside the fairing). I don't use the CB at all so I am not concerned with that issue.

My questions are about the hidden antenna. Is anyone using one? How is the reception compaired to the external antenna? Which hidden antenna do you consider better, Harley Davidson's or Tune Trapper?

Thanks for any assistance.

Thumbs up

CGretCPO, I'm not here about your hidden antenna, I don't know anything about them.

Just here to thank you for your Veteran's quote..... Brought a tear to my eye..... I'm former Army, 1972-1976, and have a few fellow members whose checks WERE cashed for that most highest amount..... I am going to pass that quote on to every person I have ever known in my life.

Thank You, and Ride Safe, Brother.....

-Ray

I use a hidden antenna and get great reception for the stations that I listen to in my area.

Can't compare it to an external antenna because I've never had one, but I've never felt the need to get one either.

I bought the Autozone powered antenna. Seems to work well.

Ok I have to be on the other side of the fence here. I do live out in the sticks a bit. I tried Harley's version of hidden antenna and it wasn't good for me. I found a huge difference in reception in my radio. I have some decent stations I can receive from
St.Louis, but without my short external antenna I couldn't get em. Same for my buddies and we all eventually ditched the hidden and went back to external. Good for closer to town riding. Not so much for out a ways riding. Just my 2 cents

I have the J&M hidden antenna in my upper fairing sitting just about on top of the radio and zero issues with reception

Don't have any experience with the Harley version, but I do have a Tune Trapper under my RG fairing. It picks up more distant stations than my pick-up does.

Default Try HD's Hidden Antenna

I have used the Auto Zone hidden antenna but am not sure about how well its reception is. I probably tend to think it is not as good as the rear fender antenna. Just last week I spoke to touring owner and he told me he has a HD hidden antenna and it worked great. Apparently it goes throughout your inner fairing. Have not seen it...just going on what I was told. He said it costs less than $80 I think. Right now I have just taken off my long black wired one and replaced it with a shorty for now.
Good luck!
