I'll likely take heat for this but my 01 had the fluid changed twice I believe. Brakes work fine.

I change mine every two years. Speed bleeders would make this an easy task

I have done it once so far, and it is due to be done again. It does
make a difference and you will be surprised I think on the feel.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic - soaks up H2O. I just gave up high performance driving on race tracks where changing the fluid often is a big deal. The H20 boils and you lose the brakes. I don't think it is a HUGE safety thing with bikes, but it is a big deal for maintenance. The water causes corrosion all over the place inside the braking system. I've seen pitting on stainless brake pistons and kind of a sludge in brake lines. In the northwest where the rain is incessant, I change the fluid in both cars, truck and bikes every year. Not a big deal - just do it.

Ahh don't need speed bleeders its easy enough to do with the stock ****....I do it every 10k which is about every year and a half or so.
