Oil pressure gauge
My 08 road king classic has a oil pressure gauge mounted on the upper part of the rear cylinder and the other day while I was just standing showing my new purchase to a friend, oil started pouring out of the side of the gauge where this round rubber plug WAS ( I found it on the driveway later and put it in...whew) the oil was very clear and appears not to be engine oil, my question is .....this little black plug which had popped out can Not be the only thing holding back the pressured oil in this guage, is there a set screw or something else that may be missing behind this rubber plug?

You had a liquid filled gage. The liquid is oil or glycerine and is there to stabilize the needle on the gage while the motor is running. Usually just a rubber plug. The gage will work without oil but the needle may be irratic. Without knowing exacly what the fluid is you ay have problems with adding fluid. You could just remove the non factory gage or replace irt with another.

A new Autometer gage is about $30 from Dennis Kirk. Same thing happened to me. Autometer said the oil is available at well equipped hobby shops that handle RC cars and is the same stuff used in the shocks, I believe. They don't offer a replacement plug though. Pressure from your oil system has no effect on this plug. Likely age has had its effects on the plug.

Go to any speed shop/auto parts store and get an AutoMeter gauge. My HD gauge leaked all it's glycerine out. I ran it that way for 2 years, until the gauge face got so yellow I couldn't read it. Like QC, I also used a Jerzee Customs shield to hide the bottom of the gauge.

So you put an Auto meter in place of the Customs and it fit in the chrome shroud then? Does the fitting on the bottom of the gauge work with the braided line?
