Default parade fan turned on by accessory switch

I have been riding my bike in heavey traffic lately. It has kicked into parade mode on me several times while sitting in stop and go Boston traffic. When I bought the bike I had a parade fan installed but that thing seems like it never comes on. I was wondering if there is a way to make my accessory switch turn it on instead of waiting for the sensor to kick in. That way I can help to cool the engine while in parde mode sitting in traffic.

Check this thread

He has a thermal switch that may be able to be fitted to your fan.

Good luck

Sounds like you have a bad sensor. Makes no sense that your fan is not turned on well before you bike overheats.

YOU or a shop could SPLICE in that Extra switch for manual ON-Off.

Splice into the Hot wire to fan and you can by-pass the thermo-switch and just leave it "as is",,,,, Non Functioning...

Cheaper repair and YOU control When it comes on by the flick of that toggle switch.

Sounds like its not wired up right. I recently bought a used one and had to do some work as there was no wiring or rigged wiring for it. If you go to the HD web site for parts you can download the instruction .pdf. This will tell you all you need to know about how to wire it. It requires a relay as it pulls too many amps for a traditional switch. The sensor is wired into the relay. There a few diffenent problems you could be having but this is probably the way to find out what your problem is or how to bypass it.
