The owners manual for my '09 only calls for changing the primary lube every 10,000 miles. If you are doing a fluid change right now I think I would just check the level, if that is OK then ride it until the next fluid change.

what kind of royal purple? if its energy conserving, definitely not. the additives that make it energy cons. will cause your clutch to slip.

if it were me, i would save the royal purple for a better purpose, and go out and buy a couple of qts of shell rotella t 10/15w-40 and use that instead. its wet clutch rated, and is a lot cheaper than rp.

Or 2 quarts of any 20W-50 or 10W-40 at Wal Mart for $2.67 a quart.

( Like I have been doing for the last 128,000 miles.)

((Everything in my primary is still the original equipment too.))

Personally I use Redline VTwin primary, Redline VTwin transmission and Royal Purple engine oil. That being said I think I recall on there website you could use in primary.
