Default Dunlop American Elites for 2009 and Newer Bikes

I have used the search feature and read lots of info on tires!
What I would like is to hear from those who actually have the Dunlop American Elites on 2009 and Newer Touring Bikes. What has been your experience? Would you buy them again or would you just bite the bullet and get the D407/408's?
I am due for my 30,000 mile service and need both front and rear tires but I can save about $160.00 if I have a local indy do the work and install the American Elites!

Thanks for your thoughts!

I've got about 5000 miles on my set. No complaints so far.

I have my second AE 130/80B/17 setting in my garage right now. The first one has 20,000 miles on it now and figure I'll get about 4000 more miles before changing. I get them from Jake Wilson. 146 bux TMD

I have one on the front with a Stock d40something on the back.
I'd go American elite again. No issues.

I've had a couple of them already and they've been great. I don't know what the difference is but they seem to handle and wear a lot better than the D407. Now that they have the slim white wall I can't wait to wear out my last black wall. Go for it - save the cash and IMO get a better tire

2010 Ultra ... Replaced the originals at about 12k. Have been riding on AE's ever since and love them. Just coming up on 60k miles now. I get about 22-24k miles on the fronts and about 15-16k on the rears.

Ride 2up about 40% of the time. Both twisties and freeway riding.

They run great on my '09 RK. My riding is all long distance commuter in So Cal. I'm on about my 3rd or 4th set of AE's and they're great.

I get about 17k on a rear tire and high 20's or even 30k on a front tire.

Just put one on the rear of my Road King. Have about 1,000 miles on it. Did the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherahola Skyway in wet weather. No problems, tracked well in the rain, no issues with tar snakes. I'll be putting one on the front by the end of the summer. If I can get the same or better mileage, then I'll stick with the Elites.
