Dirt daubers, they like to fill any kind of open vent...

The engine case actually vents through to the transmission case. If the transmission vent is plugged, it can (theoretically) put pressure in both primary and transmission cases.

You can discrible where the oil level should be all you want, but without saying if you are looking at that with the bike level or on the jiffy stand, it's all worthless.
