Default Street Glide CVO rear suspension

Hey guys,

My dad has a 2010 CVO SG and we both find the rear a bit too hard, even on the softest setting. It sends shock waves through your spine when you hit a pot hole, not sure if you CVO owners agree. Just wondering what some of you, who find the same thing with the rear, have done, what are the best options for rear shocks out there?

You could try different brands but the SG is playing with only 2 inches of suspension travel to begin with, it's not going to ride like an Ultra Classic. I have Progressive 940s and they ride decent.

The 944's have no trouble fitting? How are they different from stock?

You have ready access in here to probably the best Harley suspension expert on the Planet. Howard of HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal can cure your problem, I can be pretty certain! Give him a call for the lowdown on curing your problems.

on my other bike (a sportster) it rode hard over bumps and I thought the shocks
were set 2 hard so I set them softer, no better...later I tried setting them harder and
it actually made it ride better...I thought that the shocks were not rebounding when
in fact they were bottoming and I didn't realize it because they only move a couple inches total either way....I just thought I would throw this out there for you...

On a semi-related issue, I've had a couple of cases recently on my 2010 FLHRC of the rear end feeling as though it is going to depart. It hasn't, but it had my heart beating a bit faster. I've checked the tyre pressures and set the rear suspension at an appropriate figure for a solo rider of my bulk, but can anyone tell me whether under- or over-inflating the rear suspension would produce this 'twitch"? Or indeed whether there is any other explanation - like susceptibility to road surfaces?

The 944's are a 13" shock but they sit at a 12" height. They will keep you sitting at your stock height but give you a much nicer ride.
