I'm 5' 10" as well and I put a 7" winsplitter on my SGS but had to move up to a 10". I can barley see over it so I suppose I have to get use to it. Did solve most of the buffering... BTW, the Vent on my SGS doesn't do anything noticeable for me regardless of the speed...Love the bike though!
I really like my new 14 SG. The vent works good for me but I am going to add the 7" wind splitter and the lower faring deflectors. I just wish they would have offered the Daytona Blue Pearl on the Specials.
I have a 2014 FLHXS Streetglide Special with 8" monkey bagger bars by Paul Yaffe. They make taller bars for the 2014's with the dimple for the hydraulic clutch. This is my third set of their bars (2) 8" and (1) 10" and I highly recommend them.

I have a vivid black SGS. Currently have 4500 miles on it. My 2008 SG got run over by a tractor-trailer. This new bike is freaking awesome! I have done the HD stage 1 air filter that retains the stock cover. It opens up the back up for more air flow. Powder coated the backer plate for looks. Also dyno'ed with the SE race tuner. Finished off with 4" pipes from MGS Custom. This bike is a rocket compared to my 08'. The only problem so far has been a few glitches with the infotainment. It has locked up a few times and I have had to turn the bike off to get it to reboot. Other than that, the SGS is the way to go.
