Default Radio Question

Got an 09 SG, factory radio with a possible problem. Lately sometimes the radio face lights up and shows either cd track or station but no sound. I can turn the radio on and off with the push button with the same result. If I shut down with the fork lock switch (not the toggle on the bars) and turn it back on, the radio works. Not an expert here but if the radio face lights up and shows correct, can even see volume bars change, radio is obviously getting power. Internal problem? Suggestions appreciated.

Common problem. There was a HD bulletin out back a couple of years ago. Seems the rear 2 bolt heads on cross tree that holds your handle bars on the bike are too high and can come in contact with the radio, when you turn them, causing one of the circuit boards inside to crack and cause your problem. Also, check your fairing brackets. Good chance one if not all are cracked or broken as well. Only cure is to send radio unit to Iron Cross and for $250.00 bucks they will repair and make upgrades before returning it to you. Also, suggest you replace the 2 bolts that hold your handle bars on. Very easy to do and "oddly enough" the MOCO just happens to package 2 of them with lower heads. Also, make sure you use all 4 bolts to mount the radio in the bracket in the fairing and make sure to make any necessary repairs to any broken or cracked brackets in your fairing.

By the way the cutting out will only get worse if you do nothing.

Ditch it and go aftermarket. Better performance.
