Default 1995 RK distance per tank.

About to take the 1995 Road King we just bought out on its first long ride. The gas gauge is not working and I was just wondering about how far you can get on a full tank.

You have a EVO, mine is a 99 twin cam with carb, I have to hit reserve at about 150 miles.

The gauge has never worked on my Heritage so I got in the habit of checking fuel mileage EVERY time I fill up, that way I have some point of reference as to what to expect and plan for. You might want to fill up and plan on stopping at the 100-125 mile mark (you have a trip odometer, use it!) and check your mileage in with you current loading...then you can plan it out from there. I have 5 gallons of fuel and KNOW I'm going to get 37mpg so I should be able to go 185 miles...so I better have found a station at 150-160 miles because on an EFI bike there is no reserve...

I use my trip mete on my '92 cause the gauge never worked. I usually get 166 miles to reserve. I start looking at 155 miles of interstate speed. it gets better than my tc88

You have a 5 US gallon tank, of which approx 1 gallon is reserve. As the others have mentioned, at around 150-160 miles you can expect to need reserve, but only go that far if you know you can refill fairly soon!
