I've been running a CB mic in my hand for years.

I don't wear a helmet.

I don't want my stereo sound through a headset, IMHO, that is more dangerous than a mic in hand.

The ebay linky above didn't work...

Will this work?

Default Run Wire

Darn I had a problem with being able to post to the HD Forum site for about a week now. Kept getting an error that said my post was to short that it needed to be at least 5 letters. Had to reinstall IE. Well that problem is solved so on to the only solution to this problem as I see it.

Since Harley choose not to include the wiring to the Din connector from the radio the only way to use a hand held is to install an 18 to 22 gag stranded wire from the radio connector to the Din connector (where you plug in the helmet). You only need 1 wire not 2 because the ground is already there. You will have to remove the gas tank to do a proper job. Solder the wire to pin 7 on the Din connector and tap into the PTT wire on the radio connector. The maintenance manual will tell you which pin on the radio connector is the PTT.

Hope this helps those who want to use a hand held mic.

Stopped at the dealer last night to confirm this. They said they are aware of it and have a solution for it. They have already converted 2 bikes this week and the mike works perfectly. What a relief.......of course now I still have to spend mucho$$$$ on the CB itself.. :teeth:

Simple fix if you want to stick with that mic. Rubber band holding the PTT button down on the mic and then just use the PTT on the bars. There are a ton of 1/2 helmet headsets (or no helmet) out there tho that would be a much better setup IMHO tho.

I don't want anything in or on my ears. I want to be able to hear everything around me. Also some cities ban anything on the ears.

Good tip about the rubber band though. I'll keep that in mind as a backup.

rmc, don't you know never sell anything - you might need it a few years later.

yes it happens sometimes but there is a market now, i thought a few years would go by and nobody would need one then.

I say just give it time for companies like J & P Corp to come up with something.

They already have a new cable to solve this for the Street Glides. Something will shake out.
