I could use some help here. Seems as though my '13 RGC has developed a leak at the oil cooler adapter. It seems to be coming from the two (for lack of proper nomenclature) silver discs with Allen slots in them.

I've called a few dealers and I've gotten the usual "who did your oil change" and when I tell them I do it myself, I get the crap lines.

My question is....are these silver Allen slotted discs threaded and do they back out easily? If they are, I'm thinking I could back them out, put Teflon tape on them and thread them back in.

Any insight would help greatly. Thank you.

 

they should seal with an O-ring, try just tightening them up a little, if that doesn't work, get a new O-ring.

 

Ok. Thanks for the input. I noticed on a friends 2011 SG, the oil cooler has two smaller Allen head bolts in place of the large silver plugs that I have. My 2013 service manual even shows the same unit as the 2011, not the one on my 2013.

 

Yep this is a bit of HD trivia that I'm trying to chase down right now. Two different adapters were used in 13, the one you have is a late release it is the same as the early 14s, the new one just has an "A" suffix added to the earlier part number, and it is already discontinued, refers back to the original part #, it is yet to be seen if the adapter will remain the same or go back to the previous model. Only place to see the actual parts break out of your adapter is the dealership 14 touring parts book, 63059-09A. Those two caps are simply plugs, tighten and/or O-rings should do the trick.
