Default How can I tell if it's really a Screaming Eagle model, VIN?

Looking at buying a 2000 Road King and it has a Screaming Eagle Air cleaner.
How can I tell if it's an actual Screaming Eagle model bike from Harley?
Would the engine numbers or VIN tell me that?

When you bought a Screamin Eagle air filter back then you got a new stick on ring that said Screamin Eagle on it that went on the air cleaner cover. From looking at the one pic you posted, I would doubt that is a Screamin Eagle model.

Here is a link on Harley-Davidson's site where, once you log in, you can enter your VIN and find out the service schedule. I believe when you do that it may show your bike model.

That is a Screamin' Eagle.... air cleaner cover. Not a CVO bike, they didn't make SE RKs in 2000

I don't believe it's got a SE air cleaner on it either. It still has the black backing plate on it. And unless that's some trick photography, it looks like the right side muffler is longer than the left.
And NO, that ain't a SE RK.

Thanks for that link Guntoter
I put in the vin and found out it's a 2000 TOURING ROAD KING® POLICE (EFI)
So anything special they did to upgrade the POLICE bikes in that year?
For the price it's going to be hard to pass this one up!

A quick look at the handlebar controls & you can see the black switch housings & black cables running down the bars. CVOs would have all chrome controls & cable-covers. Another quick tell is the engine block color; standards are black & CVOs are/were silver or graphite.

Also, looks like the rear fender has a bumper/reflector, which is wrong for CVO but comes on the regular RK.

It could still be a nice bike, but it's no SE. If that's what you want, they're not difficult to find.

The 2000 model year had the CVO FXR and the CVO Road glide only. Ride Safe

I'm also finding conflicting info about whether or not it's a twin cam engine.
I know it's an EFI but how do you Harley experts pick out a TC engine vs. standard EVO?

My 2007 Iron Horse has a 100 ci S&S that's still an EVO style, but Harley seems to have started using TC engines around the 2000 model years, maybe only in certain models?
