Default Cam Chain Tensioners (CCT)

I have a bit over 50,000 miles on my 09 UC. Has anyone out there changed the CCT yet. They say they are good for 80,000 miles but just wondering if it would be wise to replace them now rather than wait. Also, any idea what the cost would be to replace the tensioners.

Thanks!

I would take a look at them at 50k miles, I would change them if they were past halfway, I ride a lot so I would do it.

Your bike doesn't suffer the problems with its tensioners that the TC88s did. They are responsible for raising the profile or infamy of tensioners. Occasional checks as suggested above should keep you on top of any wear yours have.

You can take a look at the outside one easily. I think a bud of mine with an 09 used a mirror to look at the inside one. Of course this job involves removing the header and right foot board, then the outer cam chest cover. Easy to do. And if you need an internal tensioner, then you will have to remove the pushrods and the cam plate to replace the inner chain tensioner. No other way. So as long as you are this far, consider installing better cams if you are still running stock and migrate to adjustable pushrods too.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll pull the cover and check things out. Again, thanks for your help.

Check them at 100k. If you replace then look at the Zippers tensioners as well. Might get 200k out of them.
