Road King owner soon - I think
Hi everyone,
I'm a relatively new rider. I bought my first bike - a Yamaha Vstar 650 this season. I've been riding tons, especially on the beautiful twisty roads here in New Hampshire. I've been going on a group rides just about every weekend and I'm loving it. The only thing is that I'm finding my bike to be too small for this kind of riding, and my wife doesn't usually come along because she's uncomfortable on the back of my bike after about an hour. She'd love to come along. It's just that it's no fun when her butt gets sore.
I've always considered this my "first bike" with the plan to sell it and upgrade to a Harley Road King when I was done with it. My wife is all in favor of this and is pushing me to buy a new bike (Best wife ever? Yeah. I think so.).
I'm looking at a 2012 Road King with ABS and cruise control, 2000 miles on it for about 18K. I'm just debating - should I buy it now? Will I be able to get a better deal if I wait until Jan or Feb? Will this bike be too much for someone with my experience?

Wow, 18K is a sky high price!!! Do you realize the 2014 RK is $18249? I have a 2011 RK equipped the same and I would be laughing all the way to the bank if someone gave me 15K (not that I am selling).
Take a look at "leftover" a 2013 Limited. They are discounting them 3 thousand dollars without even asking right now.

You will be fine with it & both of you will enjoy it. That price is a little strong though. You could go get a 2014 with a sissy bar/back rest & luggage rack & have a two year warranty for about $1400 more out the door. Welcome to the forum & Harley.

If you plan to pay $18K for this bike then just bite the bullet and go for 2014 ride, or 2013 leftover's available on the floor. Good luck!

Welcome to the forums and good luck on your bigger bike. Road Kings, and all the touring bikes for that matter are really well balanced and they ride great. $18k is a large amount for a used one though. Not trying to advertise or anything, but I do have an 01 for sale for lots less than that. Haha, happy riding.
