Got a '12 electric glide with what I thought was lifter noise. Took it back to the dealer. After 3 weeks in shop, I was called to come and pick up bike. I was told they had replaced all 4 lifters under warranty. Bike noise appeared to be gone for about two weeks. Now it seems it's back and maybe even louder. Any thoughts?
Had same issue. I replaced lifters myself when doing cam change as Harley wouldnt replace. Put Fueling lifters in and bike is quiet like it should be from factory. Used to have a horrible racket when first started, not anymore.
I had no luck with the comps. Noisy after 3k. S&S makes some great lifters, but quite expensive. I wouldn't consider wood's, but that's just me. There are several good options out there. Something else to consider if you have hydraulic tensioners is the zippers dual piston tensioners. The oem tensioners have been known to cause some noise when the cams ramp over due to slop in the single piston design. Also, some have even shimmed their rocker shafts with mixed results. I know of a few guys that did all of the above and still have noise. It's a complex design, this little vtwin engine. Or perhaps it's the simplicity that creates problems when modifications enter the picture...
2012 Road King 103 has lifter noise - dealer service says it's normal-
OK, if it's normal, why didn't I here it when it was new?
I wouldn't have bought it! Dumb Asses!
