The other issue is while staying in the footprint of the TC engine, and bagger frame, how much heat can they dissipate as they keep making more power. You can only make the cylinder walls so thin before they will heat up and distort to the point they will not allow compression, allow blow by, etc etc etc.
so to male a long story short, they need more space for bore, stroke, and surface area to get rid of the heat. they are getting close to maxing it out now, especially the cooling part.

The Twin Cam in any displacement is a really good engine. I've had 88s, 95s, 96s, 103s and 107s. The 103 in my 2012 FLTRX is great. A stage 1 kit and the 103 was all the engine most would ever need.
I really don't see the Indian or Victory models as competition for any of the HD touring machines. It's not that the Indian or Victory machines are bad, its just that they don't provide the rest of the total package that HD does.
