Default Eliminating antenna holes in saddle bag/fender filler

I'm looking for ideas for eliminating the holes in the integrated filler/tri-light thing on back of my 09 SG. I don't use an antenna so the holes are useless. I've purchased two of HD's solid rubber plugs, but they are ugly. I'm concerned that if I fill the holes with bondo or a composite concoction the patch will crack around the seam.

Any ideas? Does HD or anyone else sell the plastic part without antenna holes?

BTW, in case anyone was wondering, I'd rather ride this thing then dream up winter projects.

Thanks

The do sell the plastic part without the hole... not sure what it's called however.

Can't get the pic to transfer, but there is one on the right side of my SG, the antenna is on the left...

I Araldited the antenna holes in my tourpak then repainted it. Can't see where they were ten years or so after! You could hide them, once filled, with a suitable sticker.

Whelen vertex led's ,they can be flush mounted from behind(don;t know if they'll fill the entire hole). You can surface mount them with either chrome or black covers. They aren't cheap but you'll have some bright brake lights that can be linked to each other with dozens of flash patterns or steady on................and something probably no other bike has.

I just read an article in American Iron Motorcycle Bagger magazine, the Nov/Dec 2013 issue. Page 76 gives you a how to.

The Harley part number is 59749-06 for the plug. You can see it here.

Thumbs up

Hello Brother-

Since no one reads your post to see that you do NOT want the stupid and ugly PLUGS, see your dealer. They do make the rear fender fascia or fender surround or whatever they call it without the antenna holes, it is a special order in your color or primed, but I can't find it in the on-line HD parts catalog, it's tedious to try to navigate.

I asked my parts guy at the dealer specifically about this part, they do make it.

Good luck!

I just filled my fairing mirror holes using fiberglass on the back side and filled tho outer side almost to the top with the resin. the applied a light coat of filler (bondo). It worked very well, and I cant see where they were.

You are right, Ray, but just like you they are trying to help, and that's very cool. Thank you all.

I see from Ronnie's that an unpainted fascia w/ the holes is only $65 (pn 59739-09). I'll call a dealer to track down what you mention.

Talked to two dealers. Both said HD does not sell rear facia w/o holes.

Filling, as mentioned by grb and thirstyb, may be the answer. Or, given that my bike is black, I could just stop fussing about this.
