Default Motorcyclemetal’s New 4 ½” DOT Approved Hi/Lo HID Projector Beams

I have been working on this project before March and now I have a few made and tested. The object is auxiliary lighting for when you need it. 3 headlights (you are allowed up to 4). The pictures are for just the 4 ½” passing lamps. The Hi/Lo “shutter” always works with your center headlight when the lamps are either on or off.

Projector beams are much more focused like a LED. The good part is they are brighter than LED’s and below is an example of just passing lamps. The bad part is a Projector beam does not have a lot of side light just like LED’s. You need to see in the ditch/side of the road.

As many of you know that I have been working in high end HID lighting. I offer 4 ½” headlamps inside of Adjure buckets using HID. It is Lo beam only and separate Halogen piggybacked bulbs to function as a DRL (Daylight Running Lights) which I modulate.

There is no DLR LED’s (Angle Eyes) yet but here is the results of (I believe) the very first set of replacement passing lamps as well as a single 4 ½” light for smaller custom bikes. The ballasts can be re-located for those applications under the seat.

I just got in, these photographs are untouched, just the way I shot them.

4 1/2" Projector beam with HID Ballast Hi/Lo beam controller ("Shutter").

2 Lamp High Beam

2 Lamp Low Beam

Eye Level as seen through a windshield.

Right hand side only Low Beam

Right Hand side only High Beam

New picture added @ 4pm EST 12.17.13 of what it looks like to oncoming traffic. I am maybe 100 feet away I think.

Hi, how is watching us on TV riding? Bet it sucks? You would not use those lights on the crash bar but these are much smaller and have the exact same light output & Hi/Lo feature. Remember that projector beams are small and the big chrome bucket is just for looks to match something that you only have. These are smaller but only part chromed as I figured that you would want to powder coat or paint them. No you can not fry an egg or any of that happy horseshit you hear on this forum. They are just 35 Watt HID H-1 bulbs. I believe they start off at 6A and go someplace around 3 amps when heated up running, 1/2 the amperage draw of a 70W headlight Halogen bulb/each. HI or Lo they are always on. You turn them on/off with an individual switch. Small ones, I do not have the time to take pictures tonight, maybe tomorrow. My past customers will get special introductory pricing like one of you two. Remember that the lights are exactly the same, only the housing is changed.

This is a picture of the same pair of lights on coming traffic would see. Please note the light spread is very narrow and I would not recommend using these passing lamps without a non-projection beam HID center headlight which will throw some light into the gutter/side of the roadway. Look closely and you will see more light over to the right hand side of the roadway and less onto oncoming traffic....

PS I only use 6,000 Kelvin color spectrum AKA Temperature.

I have a Road Glide in my shop. If I get the time I will drive on up and take a picture of them on it. Here are your choices of mounting.

These look like they would be great on the highway bars...to replace the useless lights I have on there now.

I'm local, are you open for walk on business?
