Default 6.5" Boom Infotainment - Question on SMS Texting

Hi all, just bought a 2014 SGS and still learning the Infotainment system and all of its functions. I've read that I should be able to have incoming SMS text messages display on the screen while riding. I've enabled this function on my system, but when I try to view my inbox on the dash screen, it displays a message saying something to the effect of "unable to download SMS messages" or something like that.

Any advice from you guys out there with the 6.5?

Thanks in advance.

Oh brother, please spare me the lecture. Nice to be able to have my wife text me and be able to read it while on the road. Obviously I'm not texting back while riding. Give me a break.

I haven't been able to get mine to work either. But then again, I have a crappy blackberry, but the company pays for it. My wife has the iPhone. But I can't even get my BB to sync to the system.

Thanks Erock, I have an iPhone 5 that I'm using. Works great for music, but would be nice to be able to view incoming texts while riding in case of emergency at work or home. Please let me know if you hear anything regarding this.

It won't let you read the test while you are moving but it will read the text message to you. When you are stopped it will let you read the text. Make sure the phone you are using has bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile). I know Motorola Android phones will work, that is what I have.

I have an iPhone 4 and was getting the same message. From another thread on the forum, I found out you have to have "Show Notifications" turned on for the Bluetooth device. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > tap the right arrow for the H-D Radio device and turn on Show Notifications. This is how I got mine to work.

Thanks for the response. Is there anything special that I have to do from my end to get the system to read an incoming text to me while riding?
