Default Anti-seize For the Muffler?

Hey All,

Took my slip-on mufflers off to replace the rear tire. Will be reinstalling soon.

When I took the mufflers off, it took a bit of twisting and pulling to get them off.

To help with the next time I take the mufflers off, is it OK to put a little anti-seize on the tips of the mufflers that go into the header/crossover portion of the exhaust? Will that cause mess/smoke or is it bad if some of that anti-seize gets on the inside of the slip on?

If there is another product, like WD40 that would be better, please let me know. Again, looking to make the reinstall easier and subsequent removals easier.

Thanks for the help!

Skippy

i just took my mufflers off...i sprayed a little pb blaster where it slips on and let it soak for a little bit. you want it to be snug.

When I installed my true duals I applied anti-seize to the plugs where my of sensors were. I wouldn't see a problem in ur application, don't know how good it will work however.

Don't use anti-seize...better option is high-temp (HT) silicone, or also known as "liquid copper." Run a bead along the inside surface of your mufflers and slip them on. This pretty much forms a tight seal, but allows for easier removal down the road too...can get at any auto store.

I use Graphite or Molybdenum disulfide grease. When these greases evaporate or are washed away their additive looks like "flakes" and remain in the assembly joint acting a dry lubricant.

I use Acousti/Seal. Prevents leaks, makes it easy to get mufflers on and off.

As already mentioned, I used PB Blaster to help get them off and hi temp anti seize to help get them off the next time.
I use anti seize on everything I put together. A bottle from an auto parts store will last you and your heirs two lifetimes.

That said, I've learned of some new products on this thread.
