Tips, Tricks, Words of Advice
HD Virgin for 5 more days. Picking up '05 Ultra Classicon Saturday (weather permitting).
My last ride was a 750 Kawasaki in 1988, so I have a little re-learning curve ahead of me, which I am looking forward to.
I'd really like to see what this forum can come up with forsuggested Tips, Tricks, and General Words of Advice for a HDNewbie. I figure I should collect 100 or more responses; all of which will go a long way in helping me get started.
Serious, fun, sarcastic... whatever. Bring'em on.Let's wrap a couple thousand years of collectiveriding experience into a single post for me to take on the road. 1, 2 no more than 3 per... please.

Buy a service manual and make friends with thedonkeys in the service department fast.
Make sure youlookcriminal when going to the dealer.
Grab a few tatoo's,grow long hair, beat the wife, and cease any further education plans....you'll be just fine!
And ask the service wrench to spell Harley Davidson.......! Just read your ops manual and there's a good chance you'll
besmarter than the rickie who works on your bike....you'll learn realquick to fix you own sh*t!
Oh, and by the way, welcome to the forum and theHD family! Keep the Kawa as a back-up!

IMMEDIATELY sign off of this forum and DO NOT log back on to this site for at least ONE YEAR! Otherwise, you will be spending more money than you knew you had upgrading and changing and personalizing your ride before you even get a chance to know it.
On a similar note, when you go to pick up your bike, cover your eyes while walking through the accesories area at your dealer, jump on the bike and ride away as quick as you can. Then don't return until your next scheduled service.
That'll at least give you a few days of bliss before your wallet pukes itself empty, your savings account starts bleeding, and your 401k starts to look like 401chrome.
