And since I just jumped in on your other thread, here goes.

I have 16 inch Wild 1 509's. Great quality, but I don't much like how they feel. If I was doing apes again, I would go with Burly Brand, Drag Specialties, Flanders, or Cycle Smiths. 14's look pretty sweet on fairing bikes. I like how 16's feel, but just don't like how high they stick over a batwing.

I had 10" minis for about 3 years, which were ok.
I just finished changing over to tall risers (5-1/2") and put my 10" bars on top of them.
I couldn't believe how much more control you get in close quarters and backing up.

I would recommend going 16", otherwise you aren't going to get the bang for the buck and additional handling improvement.

10" you won't need to extend anything, any more than that and then cables and brake lines and wiring will have to be extended.

Carlini Gangster apes are the most beautiful on a Road King in my opinion.

I personally like the Paul Yaffe 12 inch Monkey Bar apes. I have a brand new set for sale in the classifieds.

Carlini's...just make sure you get 1.5" thick bars. They round out the big front end nice. Height is whatever you want

Why not go to a dealership and sit on a 2014. They now come with the Heritage Style bars. That will give you an idea of how high, grip angle, etc., that you may want to try. Unfortunately, trying different bars to get what you like can get extremely expensive unless you can do the labor yourself. Bars, and cables/wiring, ain't cheap either.
