Default Does Aftermarket Bars Affect Trade-In Value

Have a 2011 Ultra Limited with Khrome Werks 2+2 bars on it. Thinking I may be interested in a new ride sometime in 2014 and just wondering if I should take the bike back to stock bars prior to trade in. I plan to put as much of the stock take-offs back on as possible(seat, exhaust, windshield bag, etc) since I will not get anything for them in trade. I don't mind losing the $100 the bars are worth leaving them on but do not want to take a significant hit on overall bike value. If they need to come off I do not look forward to the 8 hours or so it would take me to do it. What do yall think they might effect bike value +/-?

Won't affect the trade in either way.

I paid $69 for my Krome Werks Wide Sweepers +2's on my FLTRU, didn't bat an eye about leaving them on when I traded.

I had $750 Heli Bars on my bike.

Had the dealer do the switch as part of the trade.

Thinking whatever the minor hit on trade might be its not worth 8 hours of my time. I'm mostly think this because they are not so radical like say 14" apes on a touring bike. No offense if someone has them and like them but they are not suitable for everyone. If I had several hundred dollars in them it might be a different story.

When I traded my 2011 Ultra on a 14 Ultra in September, part of the deal was they would swap my additions from the 11 to the 14. They swapped my low profile rear shocks, Vance & Hines slip ons, all the chrome floorboard hardware etc.

Last year I traded an '05 FLHTC that I had installed 13" Prime Apes on and the dealership didn't care one way or another. I got $10,000 for the bike and I had paid $12,500 18 months earlier so I dont think they discounted any for the bars.

They go by BlueBook and Bluebook doesn't differentiate between those things.

Sometimes that works in a buyers favor. Our dealer priced a gorgeous 93 Heritage with a ton of chrome at the BB price of $6800. It was sold in ten minutes. I was one minute too late.

Different tastes for different riders and in my experience as long as the bike is mechanically sound the trade-in is unaffected by add-ons. Shouldn't expect to get a dime extra for any of those add-ons either.

i would take off some of the 'little things' that are extras especially before you trade it in. like it was stated before, most things like that dont effect the overall price like condition and miles. some things you take off you could perhaps use on your new bike or give someone else a deal on used parts....
