Want to try and start doing some of my own service, mostly the basic stuff. Other than going to my local dealer, where can I get a service manual for a 1999 Roadking and what should one cost? thx.

 

They are about $60, why would you try to avoid the dealer to order one?

 

Try Kutter HD for best price and pick up a Parts Catalog for your year model as well. The Parts Catalog shows exploded views of every part and list all part numbers.

 

Dealer is your best source for service manuals.

 

What is the part number for the 2014 SGS shop manual and parts manual? I can't seem to find them in the online parts store.

Not completely against using local HD dealer but their prices on service, parts, etc. seem to be much higher than others and they have yet to give me any discounts even when I've asked. BTW, a basic search for a 1999 service manual is $100, not $60. That is for a used one on Fleabay.

The new price for a service manual and touring parts manual are set by the MoCo. The price therefore is the same at every dealership. The one you found on eBay for $100. is being sold by a shitbag that makes your dealership look pretty damn good. BTW, you can get the service manual for around $48. from some online dealers.
