My iphone works pretty good...cost= $0

so that's bang for the buck

"oh no, no signal"

the app: youneedamap stores maps for the US and Canada on your ios device. ( corrected app name- duh)

it was free when I downloaded.

so cost=$0 again.

I hang in a clear front holster off my tbag fairing pouch, it's in my line of sight.
directions play through my stereo.

compare to the gps in my new car that crashes everytime She wants to go somewhere- thanks Toyota.

I used my iPhone last spring while going to Myrtle Beach. It worked fine. Most times I can pull over, take a look at my route, and plan the next hour or so of riding without looking. Remember when we used folded maps and no GPS? That makes it hard to part with big bucks to use a dedicated GPS maybe once a year. I usually use Waze or Navigon. Waze requires the use of data, Navigon stores the maps for the states you choose onboard the phone.

In michigan there is too many low signal zones to rely on a phone. Bites me in the azz everytime I think I can get away with using it instead of my old garmin.

I have an iPhone and primarily use the Navigon app ($$). The other one I use is Waze. Free and works great.

The iPhone (or any phone) is fine if you want to play with it while you're riding. I prefer the RoadTech Zumo models......mounted on the bike and the sound comes through the radio. It's not the cheapest, but I don't like being distracted while riding. I set it and forget it.

Your money, your decision.
