Default ape hangers and street glide lovers

i have an 07 SG .. going to put apes on it. i have searched threads on this and have recieved some ideas but just gonna start fresh with one and hope for some feed back. love carlinis but wanna grab black ones and seems paul yaffe has best selection for them (monkey bars). im torn between 12 and 14 inches. i wanna keep the mirros on the fairing for sure. will 12 inches clear the mirros enough? afraid once i get 12's ill want 14's.. have a 10 inch windshield so deff wanna get some bars to match that. would love to hear what you dudes think and if you have pics of either or any apes on bike your SG, please post! trying to check some out. thanks.

p.s. i heard paul yaffe bars shred up wiring? anyone else hear that?

I just installed the 12" Monkey Bars on my 2013 Street Glide and i can still use the factory mirrors with no issue. I'm 6'1" and have my seat lowered 1"...with this setup the bars a about 1" or so lower than my shoulders.

I put 12 yaffe MBB on too and I did not like using the mirrors. had to look under my arm to see and that got old. I replaced them with lever (perch) mounted bars. I would go 14" too, but that is just me. You need to sit on some bike with both to really be sure.

I put bars on my '12 SG a little over a year ago. at the time, I really didn't like tall bars buy my stock ones were causing pain and numbness in my neck and shoulders. I went with the 12.5" bars and loved it for a while, but now I'm wishing I would have went 14".

IMO, mirrors left on the fairing are a mistake. You will have to make a conscious effort to look under your arms to see whats going on behind you. you could miss something... I do see a few bikes out there like that, but they are in the minority.

the mirrors are a big part of my decision, i would do 14's if that saved me trouble when looking into my mirrors. bottom line is i wanted to keep them on the fairing and be able to have a clean sweep look with apes. i think i am leaning towards 14's. my heritage had 16 1/2 carlinis before sold and did well for me, so thinking 14's wouldnt be an isssue
