Default Primary removal 07 RK

Good Morning everyone, Just finished posting in the wrong area, so I'm probably gonna hear it from the Admin. But lets move on..

Changed my Primary gasket and fluid went for a ride, got to the destination
( a chili cook off in Jamestown Ca. ) When I shut her down, before I could finish putting my leathers away, there was fluid at the rear of the primary.
The cook off was at HD in Jamestown, so the Mechanics were very helpful when I took my bike to'em.
Turns out the leak originates from the " shifter seal " . So my question is , are the any tips and or tricks that I could get on how remove the inner primary and replacing the seal
.
Thanx

Best tip I can give is to follow the service manual. Another tip I can offer is to make and use a jig to remove the seal.

Just did my shifter seal over the winter. 01 rkc. About two 3hr nites, it took two of us, one being a auto mechanic. Get the cometic shifter seal and primary gasket kit, all seals in there, and service manual for your bike make yourself a primary chain removal tool, not sure what its called. Made mine out of an old plastic cutting board. All good info can be found on this forum with pics. Make sure u hav the larger sockets to remove compensator n clutch. I also installed a hayden auto primary chain tensioner while I was in there, great investment so far, the little riding I done because of the weather.

Great stuff dawg, like the jig, and gonna make one.

rktallcherry, appreciate the details already have the tool for the primary from when I put the PRO-CLUTH " I , as far as the "tensioner " , yours is an o1. Mine is an 07 , everyone I've spoke with say it's really not needed. Do you have a link where to research further ?

am4wag I really like that quote. And you are right, the seal is on the tranny.
I run a pro-clutch with tans fluid for the primary.

Thank you all for the input.

I used a piece of 1 X 2 wood and it worked great both loosening and tightening.

Good Morning HD Forums.
and to all those members that gave me the tips to replace tips seals on my 07 RK.
Started at 10AM and finished around 4 PM, and that was taking a trip to the auto parts cuz my friend returned the sockets to another friend, so I had to run to get the 1 3/16th . Buy that time it was lunch, ate and put her back together. Everything went like it was supposed to.
I greatly appreciate the input from all of you.

This is the type of networking that should be done.
Thanks again

Did you happen to change the oil and transmission fluid along with the primary? If so, you may have overfilled the transmission. It will leak there if it is but once the level is right it will quit. It happened to me and a few others I know of...

No, as soon as pulled off the primary, there was the leak just as leaky as could be.
Change the shifter seal as well, didn't need it but I was already there.
I have a Pro Rivera clutch and it uses "F" type trans fluid instead of oil, it was dirty fluid on the bottom rear primary,so after replacing the primary gasket and adding new fluid, the leak was still there, hence my looking for help here to replace the seals.
