Dealer can get you new keys, but it will take a while.
I think it was about a week or so when I ordered a set for mine.
Not sure exactly how much it was, something like $20 for 2 of them.
Any chance the seller has an extra set?
Now that it is over, it is one that you'll tell again and again - usually prefaced by "yeah, but let me tell you about the time..." Great story, once in a lifetime experience, and probably never to be repeated.
(On group trips, give your keys to a riding buddy...)
enjoy and have a safe ride back. As far as buying site unseen, it is a 50/50 shot. I would always test ride as bike, but if you got a good deal and trust the seller is honest about the bike, well it is up to you. Hope all goes well. ride safe.
glad you made it home OK. They are great bikes for a trip. You got the rookie mistakes behind you. Now you know HD lets you remove the key so the other ones on the ring don't scratch the tank. Enjoy your ride! Joe
Wow! What a great story!! Glad you made it home safe and as said above, you got all your rookie moves out in one shot!! Enjoy the scoot and pop some pics up on here when you get a chance!
Took the bike to a locksmith yesterday, and ironically the owner says the local Harley dealership sends all of their key business to him anyway. I explained to him how I lost the keys, to which he smirked and replied "first time Harley guy, huh?" Yes. Yes I am.
Anyway, he had it unlocked in a matter of seconds, and had me two keys made in less than 15 minutes. For that, he charged $50. His shop, his rules, I guess. Lesson learned.
