Default RE: Keep blowing the Acc fuse

it is doing it as soon as I turn the bike on. I thought for a bit it only happened when I put on the front brake but it has since proved otherwise. i will be looking for a circuit breaker fuse which can plug into a blad style terminial. If not Ill make jumper leads.

you'll probably have to make the jumpers.
They do make spade style circuit breakers, Napa has them
But don't know if they will fit your fuse holder.
If it happens when you do front or rear brakes,
then try this.
remove seat.
Unplug the rear fender harness right there at back of battery box on the fender.
See if fuse still blows.
If not it is in the harness or tail light assembly.

Mine did the same thing, had a friend help replace grips and pinched the wires putting it back together

I ahve taken my controls apart and the wires seem to have been pinched a bit, but they were like this from the factory. Now they are nto touchin anything else and they still are blowing the fuse. I left my controls open and cut the sheath back to seperate the wires where they seem to be a little bare. did nto fix anything.

Ok so I found some bare wires, I do nto see how they could not get chaffed in where the front brake wires go but who knows...

I have seperated them apart s to not make them touch metal.

As soon as I click her on she blows the fuse. The actual name of the fuse is the accesories fuse.... I am at the end of my rope and AZ bike week starts in 2 days.

The dealer cannot look at it for 2 more weeks.

OK,

took the bat wing off, unplugged the cig lighter, both the left and right hand control looms, and the PCIII in case that gets power from that which it does not it gets power from the injector fuse.
I am blowing the fuses still as soon as the key gets turned on.

ORIGINAL: 47Norton

I can give you a few tips on troubleshooting this. I just went through it. Hope you have a factory manual. What I did was uplug the connectors one at a time until the fuse stopped blowing. Pick up a pack of fuses (15A),as you will burn some up. Mine traced to the throttle side handlebar wire loom. There I found a pinched wire that was causing the problem. There is a connector under the seat for the rear loom and also some connectors in the taillight area. Up front you can unplug connectors inside the headlight housing. Take a look at the wiring diagram and you will seen what this circuit feeds. Take a logical approach to this and it will go much faster. Hope this helps. Roy
Maybe I wasn't making myself clear. By unplugging the connectors you can isolate portions of the wiring loom. By doing this you can locate the area where the short is happening. For example, if you had unplugged the connector to the throttle side handlebar wiring and then still blown a fuse you would know that the problem was somewhere else. Work your way through the connectors and you will be a lot closer to finding the problem. Try unplugging the connector under the seat which feeds the rear portion of the bike. If your fuse remains intact you will know the problem is in the rear fender loom or lighting. BTW, do you have a wiring diagram? If not, get one so you can see what this circuit feeds.

I am doing what you said but tryin to see what else is connected to this fuse....

DAMN IT

I had a draggin baggers kit, I wonder if the wire is worn through on that and it is the rear brake light coming on blowing it...... Hmmmm. I think that may it..... The rear brake light is tied into this fuse....

Using 01 EG wire book all I have
logical process of elimination in the plug ins.
Go back to the beginning everything hooked up
all gauges are powered by another fuse
But a o/w (accessory power does go to speedo)
the O/w goes to most handle bar switches
tail light assembly cig lighter, cruise control, engine kill etc
did you get a circuit breaker?
ok
disconnect only one fairing connector at a time. Start with right handle bar then left. then the next.
In fairing is the overlay and interconnect harness, which connects to the main.
If you disconnect either handlebar connector and still pops then the problem is farther downline main or farther back.
Under seat at back of battery box is a rear fender connector. try that.
If it still pops then it is in main or cruise control
under left cover disconnect the cruise.
This is so much easier when bike is in front of me

Now only thing left is the ignition switch.
Disconnect it. then jumper either of the two red with tracers to the red/black (b+ from ignition fuse if I remember right, but use a test light to see which of the three is main power)
on the ignition harness the accessory wire is red / gy. by my book
on the fuse the orange / white is power OUT of fuse to accessories
Best I can do with what I have
Might try this. Turn off the engine kill switch then power up bike see what happens.
